Legacy of the Cunard Line by Timothy PD Turner

Timothy Turner has launched his fully illustrated scolastic books on the history of the White Star Line and the Cunard Line. They are available to purchase in paperback or kindle format available through Amazon.

"Legacy of the Cunard Line" is a copiously illustrated book and considers much more than its title suggests. It begins with a major section focusing on the history of the Cunard Line and their ships starting with Britannia (1840), SS Great Britain (1845) and the leadership of Samuel Cunard.

Next, the loss of the RMS Lusitania, which shocked the world, is examined and the Inquiry which followed.

Other Cunarders such as the RMS Aquitania and RMS Mauretania are featured and then more modern liners: RMS Queen Mary (1936), RMS Queen Elizabeth (1940), and RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 or QE2 (1969).

Other famous disasters at sea are reviewed: the sinking of the RMS Empress of Ireland (1906), due to a collision in May 1914 which led to an official inquiry, the fire on the SS Normandie (1932) which caused the ship to turn over in its dock in February 1942 and the sinking of the SS Andrea Doria (1951) in July 1956.

The SS Great Britain (1843) is examined followed by three sets of ship and liner cigarette cards and eleven Appendices.
